Most of the team
and their families travelled to
We all had a fantastic week together which included ‘Manhunt’ games around the Holiday Park every evening, lots of ‘scooting’, lots of football being played on the Courts and several ‘water fights’. The amusement arcade was also a hit with all the youngsters and many parents. Lots of people also played ‘Crazy Golf’ and spent hours in the Swimming Pool.
Some of the highlights (or lowlights) of the week were:-
Easter Egg Hunt which was kindly organised by Julie and Vicky and saw all the boys running around the site looking for clues to lead them to chocolate.
Dads v Boys Match which took place on the Courts on Monday afternoon, resulting in a win for the Dads and lots of aches and pains!!!!
Dick winning a total of £202 at Bingo (which he had to share with Kim, daughter Sophie and her boyfriend Ryan)
James becoming ill the day after we arrived and eventually ending up in
Maurice making up for lost
time following James being poorly, and deciding that he felt like dancing on
Thursday evening and making everyone get up and join him.
Last but not least the match:-
Chairman of Apollo, Sean Philpott very kindly agreed to provide a pitch and a squad for us to play and were very welcoming to us all. Ryan (Birthday Boy) was Captain for the day and handed over and received Pennants on behalf of the team. Daniel L kindly agreed to be linesman for this match.
The first 15 minutes the match was very equal and we played some excellent football with Jamie making some great saves. Unfortunately, Apollo scored and it seemed to set off a flood of unstoppable goals, with a half-time score of 5-0.
We started the 2nd half by conceding 2 more goals before we were awarded a penalty, and following the keeper moving on the first shot, Sam stepped up again, and scored, making the score 7-1.
Despite some great play by our boys and some great defending, Apollo added 2 more goals making the final score 9-1. Overall this was not a bad performance against a very good side who have not conceded a goal in their home league for half the season.
Apollo then suggested that we have a penalty shoot-out to finish off the match and our boys did very well with each team scoring 10 penalties, and finishing with a sudden death shoot, which resulted in Apollo winning.
Sean then kindly provided refreshments for all the players and also asked if he could award Man of the Match from Apollo for a Frys player. This was given to Sam for his strength and tackling.
Our parents then chose 2 Men of the Match, and these were Ryan and Jamie for excellent individual performances.
We would like to again extend our thanks to Apollo and invite our players to look at their website at http://www.apollofootballclub.co.uk
